More Details!!  This page is to try and show you more detail of how my art looks up close (the 3-D aspect) and a closer look at how I create my art and the materials I use.  If you have any questions, please contact me, I would love to hear from you!
My Studio and "My Staff"
A lot of my art is done by hand sewing, but I also use several machines (my trusty old Brother, my new and Love, Janome, and my Serger) The Janome enables me to stitch the title of the hanging onto the border. On the wall I have a rod I hang "works in progress".The frame of my art is material that borders the art on the front and completely covers the back. I Scotch-Gard all my art. I recommend Scotch-Gard be reapplied about once a year. Lightly dust the piece (feather dusters are good).I hang the framed art from a varnished wood rod with varnished decorative caps, then I attached a silken cord. The title is machine stitched on the 2010 hangings. Previously, I used a tranfer to hand write the title.A label is attached to the back with my business name and the date I completed the art.

If the art should become damaged, I can usually repair the piece, please call first and we will make arrangements.I handstitch all my flowers from material, ribbon or trims. The vine is made from yarns and cording.Flowers hand made from an antique trim, ribbon and beads. This view also shows the flowing tail of the nightingale. The raised head of a singing nightingale. As you can see I love doing birds. This bird was hand sewn (the edges of the fabric serged). I used trim, ribbon, fabric, and he took forever to complete!!!My hummingbirds! All handsewn with the fabric edges serged. I used swirling ribbons to show the movement of the pair. I love these birds, even though they also took forever to complete. I began with numerous sketches to show the movement, the tilt of their heads and placement of their wingsMy angel wings. My first attempt at creating wings, these are to enfold you. I handstitched each "feather", and attached only the top of the wing, so the feathers could hang loose to create the 3-D.I am fascinated with water and how it looks so different as streams, springs, creeks, lakes and oceans. From rain to snow to ice.
This shows the rushing streams on a hillside with the bushes crowding the banksA small slow moving stream with a shimmering surface with rocks and green lichens beneath.Dunnings Creek is a fast moving creek that can go from a small stream to a roaring river, depending on the seasons, but it always is swirling and kicking up the mud! I created this by layering material and allowing to lay loose (3-D) so the light would change the colors .I love the ocean, and was thrilled to find this material that flows like water and reflects the green/blue of the ocean. The waves are topped and loosely tucked to produced the 3-D waves. My mystical ocean. Using many different fabrics bonded together - I created this 3-D wave that surges with pearls and stars. The ocean depths. Using strings of glitter, sea horses, paint and layered fabric - you see into the Hawaiian ocean.Next to oceans, I love skies. This is my painted sky with its swirling clouds reflecting the evening sunHawaiin Sunset - when the sun burns into the ocean the whole sky turns gold and the clouds become ablaze. I layered fabric to achieve the golden effect and used fabric, paint and glitter to show the blazing sun, sky and ocean.A night when the stars appear to swirl above the tree tops. I created with crystals, glitter, paint and layering the fabric. My leafy trees . Finding the color and texture I wanted was impossible, so I went for texture and I painted each piece to better reflect the gray green of a tree in summer.
